F.A.Q.

Wills

  • What about taxes?

Gifts in to UK registered charities, such as Natural World Fund, are generally exempt from inheritance tax. We recommend getting legal advice or consulting with a solicitor for specifics about your own estate.

  • Can I remain anonymous?

Yes. If you prefer, your legacy can be kept confidential. We respect your privacy, and your wishes in this regard will be honoured.

  • What happens if the purpose I specify is no longer possible?

If your specified purpose becomes impractical or is no longer able to be fulfilled (for legal, operational or other reasons), we will seek to use your gift in a way that most closely aligns with your original intent. We will consult with your executors or family as appropriate.

  • How will you use my gift in my Will?

You decide whether your gift is for a specific purpose (“ring-fenced”) or for general use (where it is most needed). We consider all gifts carefully and respect the wishes of each donor.

  • Do I need a solicitor to leave a gift in my Will?

You don’t have to, but it is strongly recommended. A solicitor ensures your Will is legally valid, expresses your wishes clearly, and avoids unintended consequences. If you’re adding a gift to an existing Will, a codicil may be sufficient—but again, legal advice is helpful.

  • What if I already have a Will?

You can add a gift to Natural World Fund using a codicil, which is a legal document amending your existing Will. Make sure to follow legal formalities (witnesses, etc.) and keep copies, and consider having a solicitor help.

  • What if my circumstances change?

Life changes happen — financial circumstances, family situations, or priorities may evolve. You can amend or revoke a Will at any time. If you change your mind about the gift or its purpose, just let your executors or solicitor know, and consider updating your Will or codicil.
