About

Restoring Nature, Reviving Communities

Natural World Fund is on a mission to restore degraded UK land, creating vibrant habitats that support native wildlife and capture carbon. Through science-led restoration and community collaboration, we aim to reverse biodiversity loss and help combat climate change.

Our Story

The journey began in Peru, where co-founder Glenn Howes witnessed both the triumphs and tragedies of human impact.

Upon returning to the UK, he was alarmed to learn his home country ranked in the bottom 10% globally for biodiversity intactness, having lost 75% of its forests, 90% of wetlands, and 97% of wild meadows.

Determined to make a difference, Glenn teamed up with childhood friend Ed Jackson, a lifelong environmental advocate. Together, they founded Natural World Fund to restore the UK’s natural habitats.

Our Approach

Science-Led Restoration

Every project begins with comprehensive habitat surveys to understand existing ecosystems. This data-driven approach ensures that restoration efforts—be it reforestation, wetland revival, or meadow creation—are tailored to maximise biodiversity.

Holistic Wildlife Habitats

While trees are vital, we recognise that true ecological recovery encompasses diverse habitats. Our initiatives include wetlands, peatlands, and wildflower meadows, each playing a unique role in supporting wildlife.

Community Engagement

We believe that lasting environmental change begins at the local level. That’s why we choose to involve nearby communities. Our sites are designed not just to support biodiversity, but to be open, accessible spaces where people can reconnect with nature.

Collaborative Land Stewardship

Unlike many organisations, we don’t require land ownership to initiate restoration. By partnering with landowners, we maximie the impact of every contribution, ensuring funds go directly into habitat restoration.

Our Values

Ecological Integrity

Prioritising the health and balance of ecosystems in every project.

Inclusivity

Engaging diverse communities in conservation efforts.

Transparency

Maintaining open communication about our methods and outcomes.

Sustainability

Implementing practices that ensure long-term ecological resilience.
