Restoring Nature, Reviving Communities
Natural World Fund is a UK wildlife and habitat restoration charity working with individuals, businesses, landowners, and communities. We restore degraded UK land to create vibrant habitats that support native wildlife and capture carbon. Through science-led restoration and community collaboration, we aim to reverse biodiversity loss and help combat climate change.

Our Story: UK Wildlife and Habitat Restoration
The journey began in Peru, where co-founder Glenn Howes witnessed the impact of human activity on natural ecosystems.
Returning to the UK, he was shocked to learn that the country ranks in the bottom 10% globally for biodiversity intactness, having lost 75% of its forests, 90% of wetlands, and 97% of wild meadows.
Determined to make a difference, Glenn teamed up with childhood friend Ed Jackson, a lifelong environmental advocate. Together, they founded Natural World Fund, a UK wildlife and habitat restoration charity, to restore the nation’s natural habitats and help reverse biodiversity loss.
Our Approach to UK Wildlife & Habitat Restoration
Science-Led Habitat Restoration
Every project begins with comprehensive habitat surveys to understand existing ecosystems and land conditions. This science-led approach ensures that all landrestoration work is carefully tailored to maximise biodiversity and long-term ecological resilience.
Creating Holistic Wildlife Habitats
While trees play an important role, effective UK wildlife restoration requires a diverse range of habitats. Our projects restore wetlands, peatlands, and wildflower meadows, each of which supports different species, improves soil health, and strengthens natural ecosystems.
Community-Led Nature Recovery
We believe lasting environmental change begins at the local level. That’s why community engagement is central to our work. Our restoration sites are designed to support biodiversity while remaining as open and accessible as possible, helping people reconnect with nature.
Collaborative Land Stewardship
As a UK habitat restoration charity, we work in partnership with landowners rather than requiring land ownership. This collaborative land stewardship model allows funding to be directed where it has the greatest impact—into habitat restoration and wildlife recovery.
Our Values
These values guide every Natural World Fund project, from early habitat assessment to long-term land stewardship.
Ecological Integrity
We prioritise the health and balance of natural ecosystems in every project, ensuring our habitat restoration and wildlife conservation work delivers lasting ecological benefits.
Inclusivity
We actively engage diverse communities across the UK in conservation efforts, recognising that inclusive, community-led action is essential for meaningful nature recovery.
Transparency
We are committed to transparent conservation practices, openly sharing how projects are designed, delivered, and measured to build trust and accountability.
Sustainability
Our approach to sustainable habitat restoration focuses on long-term ecological resilience, ensuring that restored landscapes support wildlife for generations to come.
